I don't think you can get to the bottom of why some strategies trigger for some and not others. I've run the exact same Signal on two different SS datafolders, using the exact same stock data and import method, and had strategies differ. Not wildly, not every time, but it happens.

I also checked "a".

@ferndave,

Thanks for the depressing info, though I think I'll continue pursuing it a bit longer.

Your post got me thinking about you probably being a much longer term user of SS than I am and you might have an older version of the SS sw, which made me realize the first question I should have asked everyone is what version of the SS sw they have as it might differ from the 4.5.40 Build Version I downloaded.

So if everyone doesn't mind another question, what version are you running?

Thanks,
Ed S.

@tennisplayer2 4.5.41? I thought the last version for download was 4.5.40.

I'm on 4.5.40. And not to throw more cold water, but when I did the comparisons, it was with the same version. I find it helpful to have separate development data folders that I make new signals on. I then have a 'master' data folder that only contains the final version of signals exported from the dev folders. Multiple folders also let me take advantage of more of my processor. Maybe it is because of the old architecture, but SS only uses 15-20% of my CPU when running a set-up. Running multiple instances multiplies that.

Ferndave, if you go on the Stratasearch website, under Downloads>Stratasearch updates, you will see the 4.5.41 version.

@ferndave,

Not exactly more cold water, as I had deduced from your first post on the Data Folders signal testing that you were using a single version of SS, but to me you introduced at least one more variable (Datafolders) for to conside,r that heretofore I have not previously dealt with or had any knowledge about.

I've got some more SS help manual research to do....

Thanks,
Ed S.

I'll be...thanks tennisplayer2. I thought that once Pete pulled the plug on SS and released the .40 version, that was it. I'll have to update my multiple just-in-case backups of the installer.
