I glad to see others are getting the crash when using google. It looks like google changed there whole finance page. I downloaded XIV historical data and imported via ASCII. Ran the signal and I get 3 new buys. Is that what others are seeing? Thank you

@tennisplayer2,
If you look at the Stratasearch help file, contents, Importing Prices and Sectors, section Importing Prices and scroll down to the ASCII Format section and read it you should easily update the table located in the File menu Import Prices section.
It would take me longer to type out an explanation of every step than it will take you to read that section and execute it successfully.
However, if you read it and try it, and it doesn't load for some reason I'll help further.
Thanks,
Ed S.

Question - Pre-market price for XIV these morning shows a gap up at 119.85 up 1.46 % from yesterday's close. What is the best way to play this to get a better price?
Careful - this has been my worst behavior with regard to this system. I have been trying to get in at a better price (which should work) only to be left in the dust on a bunch of very good trades. I would have made more money just buying at the open than trying to squeeze out another 1% on the entry (now you are hard pressed to get even that versus just buying and waiting).
Note - I added another 4,000 shares of XIV at the open today based on last night's signals. In at $120.08. I put my money where my mouth is with these systems - it is basically all I trade at the moment. Currently holding 10,000 shares of XIV at an average cost of $119.83. This includes entries from several systems including my neural networks. My goal is to stick with the systems and trade them as they were designed, rather than to try and out-think them.

Kevin - Since SS is not supported, what is the backup plan if in the future SS quits working - meaning no longer runs the daily signals?

When I looked closer at my signals for 11/29 I noticed that my ASCII data from TC2007 was different than the Yahoo prices for the two HOLD Open prices, one by 1 cent and the other by 7 cents so I decided to do an ASCII import of data using a CSV file consisting of the Yahoo data just in case penny's count :).
I reran the signals for 11/29 and now I have the same 2 Holds but I have 5 Buys instead of 4, from strategy;s #3, 20, 33, 38, 40.
Now 1 Buy signal is different from Kevin and others, and I don't have 1 signal that Ferndave gets.
The mystery continues....

Hi Kevin
Any reason you chose XIV over other ETFs? I copied the XIV strategy signals for another ETF just to test it out ( BOTZ ) and it showed some impressive returns. Thank you very much for sharing this with the rest of us.
As for price update- yahoo is pretty good about updating prices if you do it by sector. I manually created a few different ETF sectors and update the prices without issue every night.

davesaint86: I don't see SS losing its ability to give signals anytime soon. The only potential future issue is importing price data. Within the last six-months, Yahoo and Google have messed with the ability to fetch data, especially historical data. It sounds like they currently work, though as you can read in this thread, they sometimes have blips. Even if those two completely cut off their feeds, there is always the ascii import.
nibor100: I checked my signals again. I have #20, not #28, so I share three of your five. It isn't completely uncommon to have slight signal discrepancies. I've used the same signals on different SS installs using the same data, and had a signal trigger on one and not the other.
