9/24/2010 9:19:25 AM Weekly topping tails - have you looked at whether or not these are meaningful? Your filter uses daily data, so I'm curious if the same strategy is profitable when applied to weekly candles. Looking at the futures, we are all about to give back any gains made this week. Hopefully there will be a solid reversal going into the lunch hour. |

Jeeez ! --- I shut it down last night with about a 25% profit on my INTC puts ... and a small profit on my TWM position ... the Markets were set up to follow thru to the downside ... HELLO ... this morning ... POOF ... it evaporates ! |

Your filter uses daily data, so I'm curious if the same strategy is profitable when applied to weekly candles." --- Kevin, "Tails" ... be they daily, weekly, monthly ... all reflect a market condition where (in the case of Top Tails) the BULLS take control and run prices higher ... only to then be overpowered by the BEARS who drive prices back down and force a lower Close. A Close that is near the bottom of the range of that printed candle. The significance of these candles IS "meaningful" in ALL timeframes . They always represent a possible shift in the "balance of power" between Bulls and Bears ! --- NOW ... the problem with the "weekly tails" I posted last night is I stupidly posted the damn things BEFORE the "week" was complete ... and the (completed) weekly candles were printed ! This morning's price action has NOW (as I write this post) effectively erased those "tails" ! fwiw SIGH !!! |

9/24/2010 4:43:21 PM Optimists would say "scissors bottom" , incomplete W, retest....... With my taking on and off this position this week I stand in there at a 6.5% loss on this "position" For me...in TZA that is tolerable.......as swings in TZA are, usually/ can be, in the 10-30% area I have added MORE to this position near the close..... The downside or "stop" is pretty clear... " I can draw a line". at the 26.50 area. Just FYI...... to participate in this thread........ Just to add one thing....for me.....having an opinion on the market direction on a day to day basis is useless....I just have to constantly remind myself to play the lines, prices, and crossovers in the overbught/oversold , battlegroud areas.... but....... Sentiment remains bullish as hell ...excluding yesterdays one day reprieve..... but as we know.....it can turn on a dime these days.....here's to hope....... |
